Overview

Responsibilities

  • nstall, maintain, and repair the water, steam, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for any structure.
  • Installs water fuel and water supply lines, air, gas, motors, and compressors components.
  • Responsible for connecting electrical fixtures during the installation process.
  • Disposes and / or recycles any chemical byproducts of the system.
  • Diagnose and repair problems that arise, during systems build, installation, preventative maintenance, and rebuild.
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
  • Understands basic heating cycle to include: identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system
  • Selects and identifies components in bioreactor and fermenter systems and knows their application.
  • Know the differences, types, and classifications of lubricants, cleaning agents, and other liquids used in the assembly of bioreactors and fermenters.
  • Accurately interprets P&IDs and component measurement.
  • Understands pressure related factors as they apply to bioreactors and fermenters.
  • Understands the basics of pneumatic systems.
  • Understands the basics of sensors such as RTDs.
  • Understands the basics of control components.
  • Understands valve and flow control function, operation, and component purpose.
  • Understands basic damper, actuator, and pump function, operation, and component purpose.
  • Understands motor, gearbox, and clutch function, operation, and component purpose.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines and pipe-bending machines.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
  • Designs, fabricates, and hangs supports from frame and structures to hold pipes and components in place.
  • Analyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings of plumbing systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
  • Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in plumbing systems for the purpose of identifying repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
  • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
  • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
  • Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits.
  • Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate/Leaving Certificate
  • 2 Years Fabrication Experience Preferred
