Overview

This position is responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety and environmental programs to assure the highest degree of workplace safety for employees, as well as compliance with all related regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with Operations, Maintenance, and Management teams.  This position is an integral part of the Manufacturing team and operates across geographic boundaries as required, independent of location. 

Responsibilities

PROACTIVE

  1. Provide safety support and information to employees
  2. Identify safety training needs and coordinate safety training programs
  3. Assist in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment activities
  4. Develop/Update Job Safety Analyses/Risk Assessments as needed
  5. Perform internal safety audits
  6. Support emergency preparedness procedures
  7. Assist in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
  8. Promote safety awareness through communication and specific training programs
  9. Chair plant’s Safety Committee meetings and communicate best practices with other sites
  10. Schedule/Conduct/Evaluate Emergency Response Drills at site
  11. Successfully manage and complete all EH&S related work assignments and duties in a timely manner
  12. Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors and visitors
  13. Assist in the development and implementation of EH&S related policies, procedures and programs to assure compliance with all federal, state, local and company-specific regulations & requirements

REACTIVE

  1. Review incident reports (accidents and near misses) and follow-up as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of all information provided
  2. Conduct EH&S related workplace inspections and participate in accident/incident investigations to identify root-cause and appropriate corrective actions
  3. Coordinate with HR on Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work matters
  4. Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient manner

 

COMMUNICATION

  1. Maintain required detailed recordkeeping; report EH&S required data to Corporate Office
  2. Monitor and report on plant safety goals and objectives
  3. Facilitate and oversee monthly Safety Committee meetings
  4. Ensure understanding of all EH&S and regulatory requirements needed to maintain a safe work environment

 

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associates (2 year) degree, ideally related to workplace safety, industrial engineering, or similar discipline
  2. 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  3. Practical knowledge of regulatory requirements in base country of domicile, including:
    • USA - OSHA, EPA
    • Europe - HSA, OHSAS 18,000/18,001 and EPA
    • Both – Highly preferred
  4. Able to work with all levels of employees, management and corporate personnel
  5. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  6. Availability to work scheduled hours as needed to support all shifts and departments
  7. Ability to simultaneously process and maintain multiple projects
  8. Strong verbal and written skills (able to clearly communicate in English)
