  • Overview

    Our goal is to develop the sales of services surrounding biopharmaceutical process equipment.  Customers include small, medium and large firms on the European continent specializing in the manufacture of biopharmaceutical products. The candidate will report to the Global Director of Service Sales at the headquarters located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania USA.  Key sales target locations will consist of the following locations in Europe: Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden etc. This is a home office based sales position and as such the candidate must reside within the respective region.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities for service and new equipment.
    • Maintain full accountability for sales within the territory.
    • Plan, develop, implement and follow up on sales activity including key account strategies and other sales development activities.
    • Independently explore new opportunities and follow up proactively.
    • Lead technical and process related discussions with Subject Matter Experts at customer sites. Coordinate product and technical presentations and represent ABEC at relevant industry conferences.
    • Coordinate customer visits to ABEC facilities for the purposes of technical discussions and product demonstration.
    • Contribute information to sales strategies by evaluating current sales trends, identifying needs to be filled, monitoring competitive products, and analyzing and customer reactions.
    • Continually improve subject matter knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in applicable professional organizations.
    • Support marketing activities by documenting tactics of competitors. Participate in development of new sales support material.
    • Work within ABEC Business Units to qualify, develop, and close opportunities. Maintain close working relationships with ABEC office personnel to drive activity and results.
    • Provide regular reporting of activities including forecasts and call reports.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 4 year University Degree (Level 7 or equivalent) in Science, Engineering, or Business.
    • Proven field sales experience and/or other commercial experience in related technologies. At least 5 years direct sales experience is desired. Strong emphasis on the ability to listen and present appropriate technical solutions.
    • Technical sales experience in biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing. Technical sales experience in biopharm process development environment also considered.
    • Strong knowledge and background in biopharmaceutical manufacturing is desired.
    • Willingness to engage in regular travel according to business needs (up to 50%)
    • Fluency in English and German (spoken and written). Fluency in other major European languages is a plus.  Ability to work in a multi-culture working environment.
    • Excellent oral presentation and technical writing as well as solid project management skills.
    • Ability to self-motivate and prioritize activities independently.
    • Ability and willingness to influence decision makers within a customer’s organization. Examples of key functional groups are: plant engineering, process engineering, maintenance operations, quality, process development, procurement, etc.
    • A valid EU Passport and EU driver’s license are both required.
